My name is Ben George, and I’m the External Engagement Manager at Moore College. That means that my portfolio includes communications, undergraduate future students, the alumni network, fundraising and parts of the Foundation. And can I just start by saying thank you so much for your generous support. Thank you, as a person who receives and is the beneficiary of faithful biblical teaching from Moore College graduates. Thank you, as someone who received prayer and support as a student studying the Bachelor of Divinity here at Moore College. And thank you now in my current role, as I see the many and varied ways in which you continue to pray for us, advocate for us, and continue to give financially.
Just recently, in the end of financial year appeal letter, I wrote about the theme of Scripture. And I hope that you were encouraged as I was, by the ways in which Scripture is at the very heart, at the very centre, of what Moore College does. I hope you’re encouraged, as you heard the ways in which Moore College Faculty for over 165 years have been faithfully teaching students and equipping them to go out to the ends of the earth to preach the gospel of our crucified Christ.
I was recently encouraged by speaking to a current student Ming Yong (pictured below with his family). Ming was born in New Zealand, of Malaysian parents. And as I was speaking to him, it was amazing the ways in which Moore College graduates had not only tapped him on the shoulder to consider full time ministry in a vocational way, but were also the ones who continued to grow and develop him through expository preaching. As Ming continued to hear the Bible taught faithfully and clearly, he was able to see that it wasn’t him choosing parts of the Bible that he wanted to look through, but actually, it was God speaking to him through the entire Bible. And Ming is just one of many, many, many students who continue to encourage us as we see Moore College being a place where people are trained to go out and teach God’s word faithfully.
At this end of financial year period, I just want to remind you of some of the ways in which your generosity through prayers and advocacy and financial giving are impacting us as a College. We have many needs, which include needs to do with accommodation and operations and buildings, and all sorts of other things in between. But probably one of the most encouraging things that we see over and over again, is the need to continue to help and support our students through our scholarship endowment.
There are so many students both on campus and online, who have been blessed by the various forms of financial giving, as it has allowed them to study with us, to study God’s word deeply, to be better equipped to go and preach the gospel to the nations. Just off the top of my head, we have people from Ireland and from the UK, and from New Zealand and from Uganda, and from Malaysia and from Singapore. And the list goes on and on and on. And that doesn’t even include other parts of Australia, regional New South Wales, and here in Sydney.
The truth is that God has blessed us so much over so many years. And we are so thankful for our partnership with you. Will you consider, in this end of financial year period, giving to us in a tax-deductible way? Will you consider advocating for us in the various locations in which you are? And will you please continue to pray for us as a College that we will do the thing that is our very core business, that we will continue to equip men and women to glorify God through the preaching of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us and gave himself for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice.
Thank you for your prayers and continued support of our College. Please feel free to contact me with any prayer requests or if you have any questions. You can email me at Foundation@moore.edu.au or phone my direct line at +61 2 9577 9860.
