Background
The ‘Moore Global Ministry Scholarship Fund’ was founded in 2020 due to a donation from a family supportive of Moore College and the ministry of the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). This Fund is an ‘open fund’ in the sense that others may make donations towards it at any time, in order to build the fund to achieve its stated and ongoing purpose.
Purpose
The fund seeks to offer support to attend Moore College for international students who have been involved in Christian ministry (including those who have been involved with AFES), who are seeking further theological education to equip them for ministry and leadership. The mission of AFES is “to proclaim Jesus Christ at university to present everyone mature in Him, by building student groups that evangelise, encourage, train and send.” There is a long association between Moore College and AFES. Many men and women impacted by the campus-based ministry of AFES, have later attended Moore College to be equipped for lifetimes of ministry teaching, leading and sharing the gospel throughout the world.
Growing the fund?
Under God, we hope this fund will enable many men and women to be trained at Moore College and be sent into the world to proclaim the gospel. The primary purpose of the fund is to support those who will return overseas to teach and equip others to follow Jesus. To this end, we would like to ask others to add their support to see the fund grow, which in turn will help multiply ministry to God’s glory.
Initially the fund will offer a partial scholarship to a single international student who seeks to be equipped for a lifetime of ministry wherever he or she may end up serving Christ throughout the world. For Christian international students, gaining support is sometimes very difficult, for a number of reasons. Some come from less-financially resourced backgrounds or non-Christian families but were converted in Australia and so lack Christian networks back home to support their study. For them even the prospect of studying at Moore College seems impossible, and that is why we seek your support to build this fund.
How can you help?
• First, pray for this fund and the ministry for which it will equip Moore College students.
• Second, prayerfully consider giving to support the fund and help to grow it into a substantial vehicle for supporting many students to be equipped and sent.
Donations of any size will be gratefully received and are tax deductible. You might want to commit to giving a regular amount to the fund (e.g. monthly). Alternatively, you might want to establish a bequest that could help to build the fund (the College can offer advice on this). Finally, you might contribute an upfront gift towards the fund to build it quickly so that many future students might be supported.
